MATE, founded by Kayti Carr, promises to provide clean essentials for everyone. This brand highlights eight promises in delivering their clothing, which they call “The MATE Eight”: Clean, Essential, Organic, Ethical, Women-Centered, Plastic Free, Circular and Local. Each element provides information on their garment production and distribution that satisfies their sustainable and transparent promises.
More information is provided on their website about their supply chain through subtopics covering their impact report, materials and factories used for production.
MATE also provides a recycling program known as reMATE Circularity. This service provides consumers of MATE to send back old garments to be recycled into new garments to satisfy a circular supply chain, keeping the brand’s waste to a minimum. Using a mechanical recycler, the old garment fibers are shredded until they can be re-spun into new yarn, which is then used in a recycled product line. Statistics are provided to support the recycling system and how much it can reduce emissions and waste.
MATE, which is a member of 1% For the Planet and is Climate Neutral Certified, commits to “…non-toxic, natural and Organic materials,” MATE has hopes of leading the clean fashion movement in a largely impactful way.
