Tonlé

Tonlé

Tonlé is a collaborative platform to build a circular fashion economy. They strive for “circularity and climate justice to mitigate the fashion industry’s devastating impact on the planet.” They want to encourage that making clothes out of waste and using every bit of fabric and material can be done, along with justice for those exploited and harmed  by the industry.

Tonlé provides a trading and resale platform for pre-loved Tonlé garments known as Open Closet. Each garment is cleaned, repaired and reimagined if needed, helping extend the life of the garments sold and traded there while also preventing them from going to a landfill “and avoid the undermining of another economy when they hit the donation bin.”

The collection of Tonlé partners all share similar commitments, which is shared on the company’s About page:

  • Skill sharing instead of extraction
  • Collaboration instead of competition
  • Ecosystems instead of monopolies
  • Equitable distribution of wealth
  • Intentional and purposeful production instead of over-ordering
  • Circularity and sharing instead of linear capitalism
  • Reciprocity and mutual benefit, respect, and fair compensation for all who contribute to our success
