Jonas Donnenfield

Jonas got his start in climate science working with conservation organizations in his hometown of San Francisco. As a geoscientist with a BA in Geology from Carleton College, he has studied sediment records to understand the past and future of climate change, and has conducted research on pressing environmental concerns like coastal ocean hypoxia and aquatic microplastic contamination. After working across academic, government, and nonprofit sectors, Jonas has brought applied science to his work in the startup world. He is a passionate educator and activist, most recently working with the Seattle Aquarium and Sunrise Movement, and is always looking to improve science communication and climate equity. In his spare time, you can find Jonas painting, rock climbing, playing cello, or exploring the Pacific Northwest outdoors. He is thrilled to be heading to Oregon State University as the 2021 Provost’s Fellow to pursue a PhD in paleoclimatology.
